Hamburg is a city full of vibrant encounters. As one of the wealthiest cities with countless attractions, there’s always something happening. It’s not unusual for celebrities to visit our studio. Among them is Günther Krabbenhöft. At 79 years old, he’s a style icon and has gained fame as Germany’s coolest grandpa, thanks to social media.
His rise to fame began nine years ago at the Kottbusser Tor subway station. A tourist asked for his photo and posted it on Facebook. When it became known online that Günther enjoyed partying, the image of the “hipster grandpa” quickly took off. Today, he shares his party stories directly from the trendiest spots in the city. Reflecting on his experience, Günther admits, “I used to worry that if I went out, young people would wonder why an old man was there. I thought it might kill the vibe—or me!”
But his worries vanished one night when two young women invited him to Berghain, Berlin’s wildest techno club. “I was amazed—I danced for eight hours and floated home like a hovercraft, completely inspired and delighted,” he recalls. Since then, every Sunday, whether in a club or on the streets of Berlin, he continues to dance his way through life.
Günther’s message to his younger followers is clear: happiness is a choice. “If you’re always waiting for happiness to come from others, you’ll never find it. You’re responsible for your own happiness,” he says. Even in old age, he emphasizes the importance of understanding life’s finiteness to truly appreciate its value. “I refuse to fill my life with negativity. It’s not good for you,” he concludes, stamping his cane for emphasis.
One day, we had the pleasure of welcoming Günther Krabbenhöft into our studio. Known for his impeccable style and zest for life, Günther arrived with an idea in mind, and together, we crafted a fully custom look that perfectly embodies his unique flair.
We designed a stunning blue and silver dressing gown, tailored to his exact specifications, capturing the essence of timeless elegance with a modern twist. To complement the gown, we created a pair of blue paisley pajamas, adding a touch of bold pattern to the ensemble. Finally, no look of Günther’s would be complete without an accessory that stands out—we topped it off with a bespoke smoking cap, perfectly matching the rest of the outfit.
The result was a truly one-of-a-kind ensemble that reflects Günther’s personality and style, blending classic sophistication with his unmistakable modern edge. It was a collaboration that celebrated both craftsmanship and creativity, and one we’re incredibly proud of.
