Often, we get asked how much a robe weighs or what’s the best robe for summer or winter. In this post we’ll take a look at different types of robes offered in our collection and what their weight and warmth difference is. We hope that this will help you choose the right robe!
Video: How much does a robe weigh?
We can see that a velvet robe takes the crown for the heaviest weight at roughly 2.5 kg or 5 lbs. This is ideal for cold temperatures or if you just prefer something warm and heavy. Our wool robes weigh around the same and are perfect for winter too. Similar robes in this weight category are those made of very heavy jacquard, which is similarly warm.
A great choice for year-round comfort is the medium (or regular) weight jacquard cotton. This is a well-balanced option and is comfortable to wear in warm or cold weather.
The most lightweight design is a thin jacquard robe, like our series of paisley patterns. It has a silky and flowing feel to it and is great for warmer temperatures. Another great choice for hot weather would be a unlined lightweight robe, or thin cotton or linen robe and shorts set.
Different things contribute to the overall weight of a robe, such as fabric content and density, detailing such as quilting and the size and length. For reference, here we have shown you three robes that feature quilting, lining and piping, all in size Medium.
