Our Guide to Monogram Embroidery
At Baturina Homewear, we offer monogram embroidery for all robes and pajamas. When it comes to personalizing your garments, this is the most timeless and elegant way to do it.
Surely you must have wondered, how does it look like and which style should I choose? In this guide, we’ll cover the most common embroidery options.
From M to Matthew, to numeric codes, or simply “Dad”, there are many ways to add a personal touch to your robes and pajamas. We have made the chart below with gold embroidery on burgundy velvet (a favorite) to give you a practical overview.
Where is the monogram placed?
We put the monogram embroidery in the middle of the chest pocket. That way it is nicely visible and also reversible — in case of returns, exchanges or alterations we can swap out the pocket for another one. We usually do not put embroidery on other places that would be permanent, like the main body fabric. However, embroidery on the cuffs or lapels is available on request.
What color should I choose for the embroidery?
As you can probably tell from the photos, gold is a very popular option. We offer a range of colors that will match all of our robe designs, from red to black. As a rule of thumb, it’s best to match the embroidery color either to the trim fabric or piping.
What’s more? The monogram embroidery is included for free! And yes, we do accept returns for personalized items, which you can read more about here: Returns

A brief history of the monogram
The monogram is one of the oldest forms of personalization in fashion and design. Its origins trace back to ancient Greece, where rulers and city-states stamped coins with their initials to mark authority. By the Middle Ages, monograms became symbols of power and prestige, used by kings, nobles, and artists to sign their works. Think of famous artists like Albrecht Dürer, who marked his engravings with a distinctive “AD” monogram.
From the 18th and 19th centuries onward, monograms moved into the realm of fashion and household goods. Aristocratic families and the wealthy elite embroidered initials onto linen, shirts, robes, and handkerchiefs, both as a status symbol and a practical way to identify one’s belongings in large households or while traveling.
Today, monogramming has become more than a practical feature – it’s a form of personal luxury. Adding initials to robes, pajamas, or accessories turns everyday clothing into one-of-a-kind heirloom pieces. Unlike mass-produced garments, a monogrammed item feels intimate, thoughtful, and timeless. It also makes for a meaningful gift for loved ones – whether for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, or Christmas.
At Baturina Homewear, monogram embroidery is still done the traditional way, carefully stitched to match the character of each robe or pajama set. It’s not just decoration – it’s about creating clothing that is uniquely yours, with the same spirit of individuality and elegance that monograms have carried for centuries.
